OKTOBERFEST-Dedicated to the Loving Memory of Dr. Robby Iadeluca

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27 - 2019 - 3PM

Virtuosic American pianist Thomas Pandolfi returns to the PSO stage after his thrilling debut in 2017, in a performance of the towering Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor. This performance will be part of our all-German season opener, Oktoberfest.

HANDEL’S MESSIAH

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2019 - 3PM

In December we present Handel’s Messiah, one of the most cherished works of the holiday season. We will also feature three players from our front row: Concertmaster H. Lee Brewster, Associate Concertmaster Jason Labrador, and Principal Second Violin Matthew Gattuso, with the rarely performed Vivaldi Triple Violin Concerto.

PSO YOUNG PEOPLE’S CONCERT: ROMEO AND JULIETTE

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2020 - 3PM

The timeless love story of Romeo and Juliette is the backdrop to our annual Young People’s Concert in February. Artwork on this theme created by local students will be illuminated in our slideshow, while the PSO performs selections from Sergei Prokofiev’s groundbreaking score to the ballet. This is also our highly competitive Young Artists’ Competition. Three gifted young instrumentalists will perform alongside the PSO to compete for scholarship prizes! This season, we are delighted to announce that the scholarships will be doubled thanks to a generous grant from The Phillip A. Hughes Foundation.

RODRIGO!

SUNDAY, APRIL 26, 2020 - 3PM

American guitarist and composer Marcus Wolf premiered the PSO’s first ever commission, in one of many groundbreaking PSO performances. After nearly ten seasons, we welcome his return to the PSO stage. Our April concert features favorite works for the classical guitar, and we will also perform the original compositions of Mr. Wolf in a show like no other from the PSO!

WEST SIDE STORY

SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 2020 - 3PM

After traversing the globe our compass points back to America, home to some of the most innovative and beloved composers of all time. Our Season Finale performance is a celebration of the genius of Aaron Copland, Ernest Bloch, and the legendary Leonard Bernstein. The PSO will bring the season to a spectacular close, with Copland’s masterful El Salon Mexico, Bloch’s riveting Concerto Grosso No. 1, and the electrifying Symphonic Dances from Bernstein’s West Side Story.
